In Spanish 2, students are reviewing concepts they learned from Spanish 1--mostly describing personality and physical characteristics, likes and dislikes, activities that they do. For this activity called ¿Quién soy yo?, one student would come to the front of the class to assume a new "identity" as a famous person. I would show the rest of the class a sign that said which famous person that student was. The student at the front then had to ask questions to the rest of the class to try to figure out who she was. They asked questions like "Am I a boy or a girl?", "Do I play sports?, "Am I old?" and "Do I like singing?". The students really enjoyed it, and I think they enjoy it because they like having information that other people don't.
Another variation could include taping a piece of paper on each student's back, and all the students would walk around the classroom asking each other questions to figure out their identities. I chose to do it the first way because we didn't have a lot of time that day. The latter idea would get more students involved. You could also divide the class into group of 4-5. The group (minus the famous person) could decide which famous person one of their group members would become, and then the "famous person" student would ask questions to her small group. This would also get more students to involved using the target language.
